Easy As Pie Key Lime Pie

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 stick butter, melted
1 can (14-ounces) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup key lime juice (I use Nellie and Joe’s)
3 egg yolks
Zest from one fresh lime
Fresh whipped cream and lime slice for garnish
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and butter together. Place mixture into a 9-inch pie pan, and bake about 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool to room temperature before filling. Lower the oven temperature to 325 degrees F.
In a separate bowl, combine the condensed milk, lime juice, zest and egg yolks. Whisk until well blended and pour the filling in the cooled pie shell. Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes and allow to chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Before serving decorate with fresh whipped cream and lime slice. Serve chilled.
how much is half a stick of butter?? I am guessing this recipe is American and in Canada we don’t get butter in “sticks” . Ours is a 454 g bar….or what you would call 1 pound.
Hello Lorraine, thanks for your international question! One pound of butter in the US often comes in 4 sticks, each wrapped individually in one box. 1/2 of a stick = 1/8 pound = 0.0567kg I hope you enjoy the key lime pie!
This recipe never fails..but I whip the three egg whites which are left with 1/4c of sugar or so…until they are stiff. pile it on the filling and place in 350 degree oven until the meringue is toasty brown. It is just as good as whip cream on top. Healthier I don’t know but I am frugal…LOL.
Very gud
