Slow Cooker Italian Sausages

Ingredients:
8 to 12 Italian sausages (sweet or hot), left whole or cut in pieces
4 tablespoons olive oil
1 (26 ounces) jar spaghetti sauce
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/4 cup dry red wine (optional)
2 large green bell peppers, sliced into chunks
1 large onion, slice
Shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
Hoagie or sub rolls or hot cooked pasta
Directions:
In a large skillet, add 2 tablespoons oil. Brown sausage on medium, high heat for a minute or two on both sides. Remove sausages to a plate. Add remaining oil and brown onion for a few minutes. Next, add peppers and cook for a minute or two. Season with a little salt and pepper. Place sausages and vegetables in a slow cooker with remaining ingredients. Cook on low for 2 to 3 hours until sausages are cooked through. Serve on hot cooked pasta or toasted hoagie or sub rolls. You can sprinkle cheese on top of hot sandwiches if desired.
