- If your loaf of bread is starting to go stale, just put a piece of fresh celery in the bag and close it back up.
- Sugar unopened will last two years. Sugar does not spoil but eventually may change the flavor. Keep in mind that one pound of sugar is the equivalent to 2 cups.
- Always store honey at room temperature; never in the refrigerator. Remember, never boil or scorch the honey.
- It may be time for new baking powder. Unopened, it lasts six months. Opened just three months.
- Check your baking soda. Baking soda unopened will last about 18 months. Opened it will last six months.
- Flour unopened will last up to 12 months. Opened for 6 to 8 months.
- Shallots will keep for approximately six months if stored in a cool, dry location.
- Keep popcorn fresh longer by storing it in the freezer.
- Always store different types of cookies in separate containers so they’ll keep their original flavor and texture.
- To keep brown sugar from getting hard, place a piece of bread in the bag and seal it well.
- To keep flour fresh, store it in your freezer. It will keep indefinitely.
