Slow Cooker Brats

12 to 16 fresh or pre-cooked brats
1 pound bag or jar sauerkraut, drained
2 apples, cored and sliced
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 onion sliced
1 cup apple cider or juice
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer
4 tablespoons butter
12 to 16 brat buns or hard rolls

Grill or fry the brats for a couple minutes to brown them up a bit. Place brats in a large slow cooker. Dump the remaining ingredients over the top (except for buns/rolls). Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours. Serve brats on buns with kraut, onions and ketchup and/or mustard on top.
