Mulled Wine

Ingredients
 

  • 1 750 ml bottle dry red wine
  • 1/4 cup orange liquor or brandy
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar - or honey or white sugar (more if you like it sweeter)
  • 2 to 3 cinnamon sticks - plus extra for garnish
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 orange - sliced

Instructions
 

  • Pour wine, orange liqueur, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves and a few orange slices in a pot. Simmer on low for 15 to 30 minutes. Do not boil. Serve warm in mugs with orange slices, cinnamon sticks for garnish. Also great with lemon slices and cranberries for garnish. You can also warm the all on your slow cooker. I usually double or triple this recipe. You can make this with white wine too. You can also you a tablespoon or two of mulling spices if you have those in place of the cloves and cinnamon sticks.
