2 sticks softened butter
2/3 cup extra dark cocoa powder
2 to 3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 to 4 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
In a large bowl, use a mixer to beat together butter and vanilla. Add cocoa and gradually mix in powdered sugar starting with about 1 cup. Add 2 tablespoons cream or milk. Add more powdered sugar until frosting reaches desired consistency. You can also add a bit more milk or cream if needed. Makes enough to frost a 9 x 13 inch cake or about 24 cupcakes or cookies.
