Triple Chocolate Mess

Ingredients
 

  • 1 box (15 ounces) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 small package (3 ounces) instant chocolate pudding
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Spray slow cooker with cooking spray.
  • Use a mixer or mix by hand all ingredients in a bowl.
  • Spoon it into the slow cooker.
  • Cook on high for 1 to 1/2 hours or on low for 2 to 3 hours. Check it after one hour. Then keep checking it. You don't want it to be cake like.
  • It should be a little soupy.
  • Do not overcook! If starts to get cake like turn off slow cooker and take off the lid.
  • Serve it warm in bowls. Great with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Whenever my kids invite their friends over I make it. A great movie night treat!

      Yes, you can re-heat for just a short time to warm in the microwave. Maybe just 30-45 seconds. Just to warm. -Amy

    Can you tell me if this recipe will work in the type of slow cooker (metal container, not ceramic) that has the cooking element on the bottom (ie. container sits on the heating base. Thank-you. Would love to make this for my grandchildren.

      Hi Nancy. I’m just not sure how that would work. I would definitely do it on low and really watch it as to now overcook. I’m sorry I just have no experience with that kind of slow cooker. Let me know how it works. -Amy

      I use a 6 quart size. The key is to not overlook this. It’s not supposed to be a cake. It should be soupy. It’s delicious with vanilla ice cream!
