Cherry Crisp Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened at room temperature
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup dried cherries
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use a mixer to cream butter with sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, beat for several minutes until light and fluffy. Add flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon, and beat until well blended. Stir in cherries and walnuts. Drop batter by tablespoons onto lightly greased or parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake until edges just turn golden, about 12 to 14 minutes. Let cookies cool in the pan for a minute or two, then remove them to racks to cool.

These cookies will spread so make sure to leave room on baking sheet.
