Shrimp Boil on the Beach!

Talk about a magical summer night! Our friends, the Cassidy’s, invited us to a shrimp boil on the beach. What, fun! We’re in! It was a short drive from our summer cottage, on the shores of Lake Michigan, in the little town of Goodhart, Michigan. Have you ever been? The drive to get there through the tunnel of trees on M 119 is spectacular! But, the night would soon get even better!

Dozens of families were gathered on the beach sharing appetizers and summer stories. Off to the side were a handful of men, standing around about a half dozen propane fired kettles. One of the guys, made an announcement. We were told to gather around the picnic tables, which were lined up together and covered with a huge plastic table cloth. It was time! Pounds and pounds of steaming shrimp, baby red potatoes, corn on the cob, and smoked sausage were tossed down the center of the table. As you can see Ireland, her friend Quinn, and the rest of the kids were all smiles. Time to grab a table on the beach and dig in! We went through loads of butter, cocktail sauce, and napkins! We were all pretty stuffed but, a buffet of homemade desserts was waiting for us after dinner.

And, then one more surprise. A million dollar sunset! Wow! The families who host the evening have been doing so for about 10 years now. A huge thank you for inviting us!
