Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Sugar Cookie Icing and Colored Sugars or Sprinkles

Directions:
Use a mixer to cream together butter and sugar for a few minutes. Add vanilla and mix well. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Roll out on a floured surface to a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 min. Let cool and decorate with my homemade Sugar Cookie Icing and sprinkles or colored sugars.

Notes:

  1. You can also use ice piping bags and pipe on Royal Icing to decorate cookies.
  2. Make sure butter is softened. When measuring flour, make sure to spoon into measuring cup and level off. Don’t just dip the measuring cup in the flour. This will pack it in the cup and will have more flour in the cup than needed. Add flour a little at a time until mixture forms a ball. You may need a bit less then the 3 cups.
