Crazy for Coffee with IrelandDo you ever dream about a cup of coffee? I do all the time! I’m obsessed! It’s a pretty new obsession.  My parents don’t drink coffee. So, growing up, I didn’t either. Then, one day a few years ago that all changed.  The first Starbucks opened in Green Bay.  I just had to try it. I was on my way to work and it was a really cold morning.  I had no idea what or how to order.  Chocolate and coffee, okay, let’s go with that.  So, I ordered a steamy hot mocha loaded with whipped cream.  Well, that was all it took.  I was hooked.  Now, I can’t imagine my day starting without a cup of jo.  I’m always looking and dreaming about that next great cup. So, why not blog about it? So, here you go. When I find a really seriously gorgeous cup of coffee, I promise to tell you about it! If you find one, I really hope you’ll tell (and show)  me too!  So, here’s one.  Is this a beauty or what? I was in the Chicago area awhile back for one of my daughter Ireland’s dance competitions.

The key to my survival during these competitions is a good cup of coffee (or two) in the morning before the madness begins. If you’ve ever been to one of these dance competitions, you know what I’m talking about! LOL!!  Anyway, when I’m on the road, I always ask the locals where’s the best coffee in town. I can get Starbucks at home. So,  I ask around and try to find those special little coffeehouses. Guess what? I found one! I walked in and I knew I struck gold! One look at the bakery case and yep, this was going to be good!  From big flakey croissants, to muffins, and huge blueberry scones. I just had to have one of those! Delish! Ireland ordered a warm bagel, egg and bacon sandwich. She loved it! She just had to order a mug of hot cocoa too. One sip of that cocoa and she said, “Mom, the whipped cream on top has vanilla and cinnamon in it. It’s amazing”.  That’s my girl! A chip off the old block!

Then, it was my turn. They called out “caramel latte, extra hot”. That’s mine! There it was!

One of the prettiest cups of coffee I’ve ever seen! I just had to snap a picture. Later that morning I showed it to the other “dance moms”.  They asked, “How did they do that? Did they use a stencil?” Nope! It’s called latte art. It’s pretty cool, isn’t it? I have no idea how they do it but, I do know I can’t wait to go back for another cup some day. It not only looked good, it was one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever tasted. If you ever get to St. Charles, Illinois, be sure to stop at Arcedium Coffeehouse. You’ll be glad you did!  So, come on.  Let’s have it! Where’s your favorite place to go for coffee? I’m always looking for that next great cup o ‘jo! So, keep checking back!  I’ll let you know if I find another one!  I hope you do too!
