4 cups washed tart cherries, unpitted
1/2 cup sugar

Fill quart canning jar with cherries. Add sugar. Fill jar with liquor and put on lid and band. Shake every couple of hours until sugar dissolves. Store in cool dry spot for at least a month. Tip the jar upside down and back again occasionally. These are delicious to eat or great over ice cream!

If you are tired of pitting and freezing cherries, this is a good way to use them. These make great Christmas gifts. Put a tag on and wrap a ribbon around jar.
