First Day of School!

First Day of School

What in the world? She just graduated from 8th grade! Now it’s time for high school? You’ve got to be kidding me!

My GraduateWhere did summer go? My baby is a freshman in high school! It’s true! Ireland started school on Monday. I knew it was coming. We’ve been planning and getting ready for it all summer. Brand new backpack, school supplies, and uniforms ordered. Gotta love the uniforms by the way. They make back to school shopping so much easier! Anyway, she was all ready but, I’m not sure if I was, or am! LOL! Seems like just yesterday Ireland was toddler crawling up on a stool to help me in the kitchen. Whenever I’m cooking, she always ends up in there with me! She always has.

It’s Never too EarlyIt’s so weird to see your kids move through the different stages in life. Weird but, good I guess. I’m starting to realize you have to savor every minute because before you know they’ll be all grown up. While she was getting ready in the morning on her first day I just took a minute to soak it all in and enjoy it. I packed a special lunch with all of her favorites. She still loves gold fish crackers, so I had to throw some of those in there.

Butterfly Snack BagsI wrote a cute note on a napkin and tucked inside her lunch bag. I hope she got it. I never heard. Okay, I know she did. Every year we take a first day of school picture in the very same place. Right on our front stoop. She didn’t really want to but, I begged. It will just take a second! So, out we went. I got my picture and my goodbye hug and kiss too! “Good luck sweetie! Have a great first day!.” And, she was off. I worried all day. All for nothing. She came home after a long day happy and really hungry! Her first week of her freshman year is now underway.

I send my oldest, Riley back to college this weekend. Double yikes! Are you sending kiddos back to school soon too? If so, good luck! Let me know how it goes!
