8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
12 ounces mini chocolate chips
1 box (18 ounce) chocolate or yellow cake mix, prepared according to box directions
1 can chocolate or vanilla frosting (optional)
Line muffin tins with paper liners, set aside. In a large bowl beat together cream cheese, sugar and egg for about 3-5 mins or until smooth. Gently fold in chocolate chips. In another bowl, prepare cake mix according to directions. Fill each muffin tin two-thirds full with cake batter. Drop a heaping spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 to 35 minutes. Makes about 24 cupcakes. Let cool and frost if you like.
