Soaking up the Sun in Jamaica!

Soaking up the Sun in Jamaica!

We had enough of winter in Wisconsin! We said so long to a blizzard with 12 inches of snow and battled dangerously slick roads to get to the airport but we made it! We’re in paradise! To be specific we are in Jamaica, mon! We just love it here!

This is the 2nd time we’ve rented a house in Runaway Bay which is about a half hour from Ocho Rios. It looks out over the ocean. Sometimes we can see cruise ships pass by. So cool! The house is just a just a few minutes from the beach.

Lawford, who helps maintain the house, takes us down the hill to the beach in a golf cart. This is just what the doctor ordered! We are already so relaxed! I’ve already read 2 books! “The Girl on the Train” was really good! I couldn’t put it down!

One day we decided to explore a part of the island we’d never been to before. So we hired a driver, packed a cooler and towels and hit the road for a 3 hour drive to Port Antonio. It’s home to the Blue Lagoon.

I remember seeing that movie of the same name with Brooke Shields years ago. Lots of movies were filmed there. “Cocktail” with Tom Cruise too. Well, as you can see the Blue Lagoon was spectacular! You can only get to it by boat or a hand paddled raft. It’s a 170 foot deep enchanting spot fed by fresh mineral spring that opens to the sea by a narrow funnel.

As you can see we dove right in! They say it’s one of the most beautiful spots in the world. I’d have to agree! Have you ever been? It was a day I’ll never forget. Pure magic!

We really work up an appetite here! Breakfast is filled with lots of fresh tropical fruit like pineapple, watermelon mangoes and papaya.

Fresh Fruit Every Morning

Lunch is light because dinner is a real treat! Fresh fish and jerk chicken! It’s always served with a big salad or Crispy Coleslaw and Jamaican Rice and Peas too. Every night. And, it never gets old! And, how could I forget the Jamaican Rum Punch too! And, the Banana Bread and for dessert Key Lime Pie.

Lawford-Catch of the Day

We still have a few days left in paradise. Time to get off the lawn chair and get a little more adventurous! My daughter, Ireland wants to dive in the Blue Hole and go snorkeling.

You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check back soon to see what we’re up to. And see if I can persuade Lawford to give up his secret ribs and jerk chicken recipe!
