It’s Never too Early!

It’s Never too Early!

It’s Never too EarlyI was going through some old pictures and came across this one. These are my two kiddos, Riley at age 6 and Ireland was not even a year old yet. Wow! Time flies! Now, Riley is a college Freshman and Ireland will be going to high school next year. This picture just makes me smile! It brings back so many memories! Seems like every time I was in the kitchen, I’d have company! Especially when I was making a dessert! The kids loved to help!

They had their own drawer in the kitchen, way down low so they could reach it, filled with their own kitchen utensils. A rolling pin, spatula, measuring cups and spoons. Stuff like that. Nothing fancy, just my extra stuff but boy, they loved it! Having their own tools for the job got them excited about cooking. Yes, the kitchen was always a little messier when they were in it but, I always say that’s what vacuums and dogs are for! LOL! As you can see, we baked a lot of cakes. And, yes, I let them lick the beaters and spoons. I’m hoping this is the stuff they’ll remember! They learned how to measure, crack eggs and all the basics. And, we had fun doing it! I always say, it’s not about just cooking food, it’s about cooking up memories too! Don’t you think?
