Ireland’s Home from Camp! Tweet 1st July 20141/07/14 Amy's Blog Amy Hanten 1 Comment She’s my little dancing bear. I think my daughter, Ireland danced before she walked. Ballet, tap, jazz. She loves it all. She loves to act and sing too! This summer she had the opportunity to go to a musical theater camp on the east coast. This has been a dream of hers. So, off we fly to New York City. It was her first time in the Big Apple! We took it all in. Shopping, Central Park, and a Broadway show. Then, I had to say goodbye. My side kick would be gone for 3 weeks. No cell phones or electronic devices allowed. They were there to focus on the arts. I know, that’s a good thing. But, yikes that’s a long time! She was able to call home twice. Well, I survived. The time actually flew by. Hooray! It was time to go pick Ireland up at French Woods Performing Arts Camp. The camp is on a beautiful lake outside the quaint little town of Hancock, New York. We took the new member of the family, Arlo along for the long drive. Turns out he likes road trips! Arlo in New York Ireland was one happy camper to see us! And, vice-versa! She had an amazing time! She met great new friends with common interests and the counselors were terrific! At the end of each session, the campers show us what they’ve been up to. Ireland was in 4 different performances. She sang a solo, danced her heart out, had a part in Fiddler on the Roof, and even performed with fire in a circus. So cool! Ireland at French Woods Performing Arts Camp – far left Ireland in Fiddler on the Roof – center in white Her days were long and intense with rehearsals but she did have time to chill out a bit in the art studio. She made lots of tie-dyed shirts, jewelry, and a super cute mug for Bob. He loved it! So, yes it was hard to let her go but, it was so worth it! It’s so neat to let your kiddos spread their wings and fly. Don’t you agree!
