Grilling Up a Great Summer Dinner on WGN-TV! Tweet 19th June 201319/06/13 Amy's Blog, Video Recipes Amy Hanten 0 Comments Video Link Stuck in a recipe rut? No worries, it happens to all of us! So why not grill something besides burgers and brats this summer. Or, if you are doing brats, doing them my way with lots of onions, butter, kraut and beer in my Brat Tub. Great, now I’m craving brats. Anyway, I was on WGN-TV in Chicago this week grilling up the ultimate summer dinner! I promise, this will be a hit! We’ll start with a little bacon. Get your summer party started with my Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. These babies are to die for! I get the shrimp and bacon on skewers the day before and park them in my fridge. Then I quickly marinate them in brown sugar and zesty Italian dressing right before grilling. Make plenty because they will be gone before you know it. You can serve them with your favorite BBQ sauce for dipping. Total yum. Okay, ready for some more bacon? I am! Make my Layered BLT Salad. It’s so easy! I love my layered salads because I can make them the morning of my party and with the dressing on top, the salad won’t get soggy! Looks so pretty too! Don’t you think? For the main course, grill up my Ginger Soy Flank Steak. I love serving steak but, it can be a little pricey. You know me. I’m always watching my pennies. With a kid in college, I have to! That’s why I love flank steak. You get a lot of bang for your buck! Slice it into thin strips and put it on a pretty platter and watch it disappear! On the side, okay a little more bacon. If you’re grilling steak, you might as well grill your side too! My Cheesy Bacon Potato Packets are so fun. Everybody loves them. You open up the foil packet and it’s like opening up a present. Tender potatoes, melted cheese, bacon and onion. What’s not to love! And, the best party, no mess! I’m all about less dishes to wash, especially in the summer! For dessert, bring out a plate of my Death By Chocolate Cupcakes at the end of your backyard BBQ and watch everybody light up! I piped on black frosting to make the cupcakes look like a grill. Hot tamale or Mike And Ike candies look like hot dogs. I cut Sour Straw candies into little pieces and threaded them on toothpicks to look like kabobs. Could these be any cuter? Mom or Dad looks like a total rock star! Love that! Check back for more great summer recipes! I post new ones all the time and if you have any, please share! Grill up a great summer!
