Football Fever!

Football Fever!

Okay, I love summer! And, yes, it’s kind of sad when it comes to an end. But, hey the end of summer means the start of football season! After a few months without it, I’m ready! Bring it on!

I live in Green Bay. The home of the Green Bay Packers! We eat, sleep and breath FOOTBALL here! You see football isn’t just a game in this town! It’s part of life. On Sundays during football season the uniform in this town is green and gold. Everybody wears it! Even Arlo, our dog!

My daughter, Ireland has a whole Packers wardrobe. Okay, I admit it, we all do! Here she is on the left in braids with her good friend Hope right before the game! What fun!

Ireland and Hope

Believe it or not, my son’s very first word was “Packers.” Seriously! He’s in college now! Lambeau field sits right in the middle of our town. There’s a Kmart, bakery, and gas station right next to it. Anyway, I was driving around town running errands. Riley, was buckled in his car seat. We passed by the stadium. Riley points to, what was at the time a huge green and gold stadium, and says “Packers!” I freaked! Wow! I don’t think he was even a year old yet.

If the game’s on Sunday, I make sure all my laundry is done and the house is cleaned on Saturday! We go to church on Saturday night or early Sunday so we don’t miss kickoff. Trust me, we are not alone! If you’re not going to the game, you are definitely watching it! You’re either having a game day party at your house or you’re going to someone else’s house for one. That’s just the way it is.

Brat Tub

The grills fire up early on game day! It’s never too early for a brat! If you make them my way, in a “Brat Tub,” you don’t have to be “manning” or in my case “womanning” the grill the whole line. LOVE THAT! Because let me tell you, there’s nothing worse than being in the kitchen and you miss the best play of the game. HATE THAT! Sometimes, we’re lucky enough to go to the game but tickets aren’t easy to come by. So, most games, you’ll find me in my living room.

There’s always a serious game day spread on my kitchen island. My Football Cheeseball is one of my favorite make-aheads. It doubles as a centerpiece for the table too. But Warning! Take a picture quick because it will be gone before you know it!

Another staple is my Beer Dip with Seasoned Pretzels! So easy and so good!

The kids go nuts over my Sweet Lil’ Pigs and my layered BLT Dip. You know what they say. Everything is better with bacon! I can’t argue with that!

And, you gotta have wings! It’s not a football party without them! Skip the deep fryer and make my Baked Buffalo Wings. They are a lot less work and still finger lickin’ good!

For dessert, I keep it easy breezy with my Brownie Footballs or my no bake Green and Gold Trifle in the team colors. I told you, I don’t want to miss a thing so that’s how I roll! I make everything I can ahead!

Here’s hoping for a great football season! Hope your team does great, unless they are playing against my Packers! Just kidding! Well, kind of! I hope you cook up some great game day memories! I’m always posting new, fun recipes so check back soon! And, if you have any great game day recipes, I’m always looking so, please share! By the way, who are you rooting for? Any Super Bowl predictions?
