First Big Dance! Tweet 10th October 201310/10/13 Amy's Blog Amy Hanten 0 Comments I knew there would be a lot of firsts this year. But talk about a biggee! My youngest, Ireland is a freshman in high school. She just had her first big high school dance. Most schools call it homecoming. Her school calls it “Fall Fest”. Whatever you want to call it, it was a day to remember! This is all new to me. Wow, sons and daughters are so different! Don’t you agree? My son Riley, a sophomore In college, was never too interested in the high school dances. Sure, he went to a few of them, but it wasn’t a big deal. Well, things are sure different now. Or, should I say, having a daughter is different! She’s been talking about the dance for weeks now. Would she get asked to go with a boy? Bullet dodged! She wasn’t. Okay, I admit, I’m not quite ready for that yet. She’s just 14. I actually think she was a little relieved too! Okay, so the plan was to go with a group of her girlfriends! Cool! Luckily, we had the perfect dress right in her closet. Then, she borrowed my shoes. But there was still plenty to do! I am hair challenged. The only updo I can do is a pony tail. So, off to the salon we went. Her nails needed a quick polish too. Next, flowers. Riley thought his sister needed a little something. Date or not, all girls like flowers. Okay, a last minute wrist corsage ordered just in time. Riley was home from college for fall break. As you can see, he had a lot of fun presenting it to her. My camera couldn’t take enough pictures! And, that was it! The girls were off! And, boy, was I wiped out! Getting ready for these dances is a lot of work! Can you relate? Yikes! Well, Ireland says it was a lot of fun. I’m not sure when the next big dance is but, I hope it’s not anytime soon. I need to recover from this one! LOL!
