Dog Days of Summer
Our dog Arlo is having the best summer ever! Like the rest of us, I don’t think he wants the summer fun to end! We’ve only had Arlo for a little more than a year now but we can’t imagine life without him. Everywhere we go, he pretty much goes too! We’ve been spending as much time as we can at our cottage in Harbor Springs, Michigan.
It’s one of my favorite places! Arlo seems to love it too. Mornings start with coffee and sometimes my Best Ever Blueberry Muffins with fresh Michigan blueberries. So good! Then, Arlo knows the routine. It’s time for a nice long walk! We love to head downtown to the marina and walk to docks. It’s so beautiful! It’s really fun to watch the boats set sail first thing in the morning.
Arlo decided to take a break and sat himself right down one morning next to all the sailors’ flip flops. Guess there were no shoes allowed on that boat. LOL! So cute! I just had to snap a quick pic!
After our walk it’s time to head home to pack a picnic lunch. Then, it’s time for a swim. Last year was Arlo’s first time at the beach. We didn’t know how it’d go. Well, let’s just say it went swimmingly! He can’t get enough of it. He’d swim all day long if I let him. This summer, my daughter Ireland even got him on a paddle board. He’s hooked!
One weekend, Ireland had 3 of her friends up at the cottage. Talk about a house full! As you can see Arlo wanted to join in the fun! He followed them everywhere!
Arlo’s all time favorite place up north is the dog beach, in Harbor Springs. It’s true. They have a beach there just for dogs! He LOVES it! He can swim, and splash and play with other furry friends.
Our summer friends, Quinn and Oliver, love to play fetch with him at the beach. Arlo loves chasing after tennis balls. They chuck it and Arlo’s off! Over and over again!
Good thing I play tennis! No shortage of old tennis balls in our house! After a couple hours of fetch, Arlo’s had enough. He’s pooped! Me too! Time to go home and make dinner.
Talk about one great summer day! Arlo says he wants to do it all over again tomorrow. Me too, Arlo!
