Cook Up a Great Graduation Party!

Cook Up a Great Graduation Party!

Big news! My daughter, Ireland graduated from 8th grade this week! I know it’s not high school, or college, but it was still really special! Do you have a graduate too? Having people over to celebrate? Don’t stress! I can help!

I was on TV in the Twin Cities and Milwaukee cooking up a great graduation party! Don’t spend your whole time “manning” or in my case “womanning” the grill. Grill brats ahead of time and make them my way! Keep them nice and cozy in my Brat Tub with butter, onions, and kraut! They are always a hit! Trust me! Or, skip the grilling all together and make my Party Pinwheel or Crockpot BBQ chicken sandwiches! Both will keep you out of kitchen and instead you’ll get to be having fun with your guests!

Speaking of your crockpot. They aren’t just a winter thing! I use mine all summer long. My Baked Beans in the slow cooker are the bomb! Great when you need to feed a crowd! I always have to make Deviled Eggs at my parties. They are Ireland’s favorite!

Some of my favorite summer sides are my Broccoli Bacon Salad, my Red, White and Bleu Potato Salad, and my Layered Fiesta Salad which always looks so cool on a buffet!

Death By Chocolate CupcakesFor dessert, skip a fancy, expensive cake and make my Chocolate Caramel Bars or my Death by Chocolate Cupcakes. For graduation, decorate the tops with a mini peanut butter cup, a Ghirardelli chocolate square (love the sea salt caramel ones!), a mini M & M in the graduate’s school colors, and a piece of sour straw candies, all glued together with melted chocolate chips. They are so darn cute!

Have fun! Enjoy the party. Take lots of pictures. And, don’t you dare spend the whole party in the kitchen! Cook up some memories! As always if you have any great summer party recipes, ideas, or secrets, please share! I’d love to tell other cooking moms, dads, and busy people about them!
