Celebration of Chocolate Tweet 12th February 202012/02/20 Amy's Blog Amy Hanten 0 Comments What’s the one food you just couldn’t live without? For me, it’s got to be chocolate! I am a chocoholic! Dark chocolate is my favorite! And, it’s gotta be the good stuff. Now, I’m not saying I don’t ever eat Reeses peanut butter cups. I do! But when you get to experience seriously good chocolate it kind of changes things. The candy bars at the gas station just don’t excite me as much anymore but I found some chocolate that does! Every February around Valentine’s Day The American Club Resort in beautiful Kohler, Wisconsin has a special weekend called Celebration of Chocolate. The weekend kicked off with a chocolate welcome reception at the Craverie, a little cafe where they make and sell Kohler Original Chocolates. As you can see I was pretty excited to be there! There were delicious wines to sample, artisan cheeses to try, and trays and trays of these gorgeous chocolates. Every single chocolate is made by hand in small batches. They are almost too pretty to eat. Note I said “almost.” Oprah loves these Rare Facet chocolates which are hand polished and look like gems filled with creamy fruit flavored chocolate ganache centers. My favorite are their signature Terrapins. They are the best chocolate turtle ever with the softest perfectly salted Carmel and a perfect toasted pecan on top. These chocolates are so incredible that you eat one piece and you’ve satisfied your chocolate craving big time! Each piece is really like a work of art! The weekend was also filled with fun chocolate inspired classes taught by the American Club chefs. We learned how to make the Ultimate Hot Chocolate, Modern Chocolate Cake, and how to pair beer with chocolate and cheese. To work off all that chocolate we did some ice bowling and curling outside (my first time for both). Believe it or not I got a few spares and even a strike! The highlight of the weekend was a 5 course chocolate dinner. Some sort of chocolate was featured in each dish. I’m still dreaming of the decadent chocolate cherry dessert. I’m counting the days and marking my calendar. Here’s hoping I can come celebrate my love for chocolate here again next year. Join me! By the way the Craverie is open year round and they ship too. Where’s your favorite chocolate shop? Please share. I may need to go there!
