Wonderful Weekend

Sometimes it’s more relaxing just to stay home! We were so excited to head up north to our cottage Memorial weekend. It’s 5 hours away and we hadn’t been there since Christmas. I take that back. I haven’t been there since then. Bob was there snowmobiling in January. Anyway, it has been while. Then, Friday afternoon Bob got home from work and we looked at each other and realized we just didn’t have the energy to load up the car and make the drive. That, the not so great forecast up there, and the fact that it was Ireland’s birthday and she wanted to stay home too, persuaded us to ditch our plans, go with our gut and just stay home. What a great decision! Saturday was big birthday breakfast with Ireland. Then we went to Door County for a beautiful bike ride through Peninsula Park. We saw deer and wild turkey and even climbed Eagle tower. If you’ve never done this, you need too It’s just beautiful! The last time we did this the kids were little. Now, they are 12 and 17. Who knows how many family bike rides are ahead. I sure hope there are more because it was awesome! We also found a HUGE Adirondack chair. Just had to get a picture of Riley and Ireland in that! Sunday, coffee with Bob and a nice walk with Levi the dog. Then, some house cleaning and laundry. Not glamorous but, hey it’s done! Nothing better than a clean house and no laundry! Monday, coffee and tennis with Bob. I won!!! Then, some shopping with Ireland and another walk with Levi. To end it all a family dinner on the deck with my strawberry salad, pork tenderloin, couscous, and grilled veggies. A weekend with no stress, no set plans, and no driving. Sometimes you just gotta do what’s right for your family and say “no”. Hope you had a great weekend too! What did you do?

Flew to Arizona to spend time with my family. Beautiful weather in Prescott, hot in Tucson.

We drove to our cabin in Boulder Junction on Friday, then on Saturday evening we got a phone call that our daughter was in labor! So I drove to Green Bay and Sunday morning we had a beautiful new grandson. He came three weeks early, but he is doing great. :)

We love Door County although we haven’t been going there as much as we used to. Wonder how they will do this year with the cost of gas. Ugh – I know it affects our decisions.

Harbor Springs….a little slice of heaven!
