We Survived the Zippin Pippin!

It was Elvis Presley’s favorite amusement park ride and now I know why! I’ve been hearing about it all Summer! The Zippin Pippin! It’s the new roller coaster they brought to Green Bay’s Bay Beach all the way from Memphis. Can we go mom? Please! I knew it was either now or we’d have to wait until next Summer so, I gave in. My co-worker, Rachel Manek said to me, “Saw, it on your Facebook page, are you really going on the Zippin Pippin?” Murphy in the morning from WIXX radio said the same thing. Yep, I’m doing it! Now, you need to understand, I don’t do roller coasters and to be honest amusement parks aren’t really my thing either. Crowds, long lines, you know the drill. Well, I was wrong. No lines, no big crowds, super clean, and great weather too! We picked the perfect day to go! And, you just gotta love Bay Beach! It just has to be the only amusement park in the world where $15 bucks worth of tickets will last you all day! Even the snow cones are only a buck! So, let’s get it over with!

Off we go right away, our very first ride was the Zippin Pippin. The wait was only about ten minutes. I admit it! This coaster is a beauty! None of that fancy, flashy metal stuff. It’s all wood. It looks like the roller coasters I grew up with. I’m probably the only one who noticed but, there’s even flowers and landscaping as you wind your way to get on the ride. Ireland and I get buckled in and I’m thinking, what was I thinking? Yep, I was nervous. I think Ireland was too. Then, we’re off. That first big climb and down we go. I can’t remember when I screamed so loud, or had such a thrill! We had so much fun we took another ride on it again later in the day. If you get a chance before they close for the season you need to ride it for yourself! If, not put it on your to do list for next Summer! What fun! Makes you feel like a kid again!
