I can’t Dance! But, I guess I’m a “Dance Mom!”

I Guess I'm a Dance Mom!I did it! Makeup, hairspray, fake eyelashes, 7 costume changes. YIKES! I survived another dance competition over the weekend and guess what? I actually had fun! Who knows, maybe I’m getting the hang of this whole thing. My 12 year-old daughter, Ireland, seen here touching up here makeup, is a competitive dancer so, I guess that makes me a “Dance Mom”. I still kind of feel like a fish out of water at these competitions but I’m learning. I’ve had a lot of help from the other seasoned “Dance Moms”. Thank goodness!

This year we are travelling to 5 different out of town competitions. I decided if I’m going to be on the road, I might as well make the most of it! I am going to get out of the theater when I can and check out the town! I’m going to find a good coffee place! I’m going to ask the locals and find the good restaurants. Most importantly, I’m going to not stress, try and relax a little bit and enjoy! All of which I did this weekend! I bonded with a few dance moms! Too cool! The competition was in this cute little suburb of Chicago, called St. Charles. I walked all over downtown. I discovered this most amazing coffee house. Check back, because you need to see this latte!

One night a group of 12 of us, moms and girls went for a delicious Italian dinner to a place called Francesca’s. The best spaghetti and meatballs! Have you been there? Anyway, I am actually looking forward to next month’s competition. Really! I am! Ireland’s team is at the top of their game! They are dancing great and we’re headed to National’s! Sure hope I can figure out the whole side braid, side bun thing by then! Wish me luck! Are you a “Dance Mom or Dad”? Any survival tips! LOL!

    Hi Amy,
I am very familiar with St. Charles as my daughter lives in Geneva which is attached to St. Chalres a lot like Neenah-Menasha. Geneva has a ton of quaint litle shops also. The streets are always full of tourists checking out the shops. Glad you had a great time. Tell Ireland that I said “You GO Girl.” Joie Baldock
