It’s a Wisconsin tradition! What would we do without the Friday night fish fry? Once in a while, “The Cooking Mom” hangs up her apron for a dinner out. One of my favorite things to do after a long week is to go out for fish on Fridays. Nothing fancy! Usually the best fish frys are in the little hole-in-the wall places. You know it’s good if the parking lot is full! Trust me, if it is, it’s usually worth the wait! So put your name in and try to grab a seat at the bar. That’s how it works here in Wisconsin, anyway.
They called our name! It’s time! Hand breaded fried perch, walleye, or cod, French fries, gotta have homemade coleslaw too! Even better if the place makes homemade potato salad! Always got to try it if they do! In Wisconsin your fish fry isn’t complete without buttered rye bread and seriously good homemade tartar sauce too! One of my favorite places for fish is Farr’s Grove, in Howard Wisconsin. It’s just a bar, and they even serve the fish on paper plates, but who cares? It rocks! During Lent be prepared to wait even longer. But, it’s worth it. You always meet some nice people at the bar which makes the time fly. Where’s your favorite fish fry? I’m willing to road trip! I have 2 favorite spots to go. First is Cedar Lodge in Calumetville they have really great baked haddock and lightly breaded haddock with a ho-made potato salad. The other is Anita’s Log Cabin in Oakfield. Very good baked and fried.

THE BEST Perch fish fry ever….. Fork in the Road in Mukwonago. That is my standard and other places come close, but never as good!!!!
Our favorite place for fish is Boxcar Billy’s in Howard, WI. A great menu. Also, a good place to take the kids as they enjoy the boxcar theme. Warning: get there early on Friday night. Enjoy!!!
You’ve got to try Emerald Hills (the golf course) in Two Rivers! Their fish is the best!! They also make a great pizza and lots of other sandwiches.
Backyard Grill in Fond du Lac is AWESOME for perch dinners on Fridays!!!
I love to go to Safari it is at Brown County Golf Course. Perch is fantastic! They have a REALLY good Salad Bar which includes Clam Chowder!
My favorite place for a fish fry is The Tigers Den in Wrightstown. Very close second is The Darboy club in of course Darboy. Fantastic food,great servers,and great company in the restaurants!
My favorite fish fry is the Cimmaron in Menasha. The pearch and Haddock is the best.
It is one of the only places I know that instead of potatoes you can order vegetables .
