Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Before heading north to our family’s cottage in upper Michigan I stopped in Chicago and Detroit to share some of my favorite summer recipes! Like root beer floats! Who doesn’t? They loved my super cute Root Beer Float Cupcakes in Chicago! They are delish and so easy!
In Detroit I made my Cherry Pretzel Torte! It’s a no bake recipe that’s so easy!Do it in one big pan using cherries and blueberries to make a patriotic dessert, or use small canning jars so that everybody can get their own. How cute!
Gotta have Baked Beans to go with the burgers and brats this weekend! I take canned pork and beans and jazz them up with bacon, brown sugar and a few other things. Easy breezy! Everybody loves them! Speaking of brats, grill those babies up before the party and keep them warm and cozy in my “Brat Tub” filled with beer, onions, kraut, and butter. Yum!
Don’t forget my homemade Potato Salad with baby red potatoes, fresh dill, sour cream, and a little bacon too! Everything’s better with bacon, right? Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I grew up and lived right in Chicago until I joine the Air Force and went to Vietnam. I retired from the Air Force in Montgomery,Alabama in 1988, and been down here ever since. My Dad worked the the Trib in Chicago and back in the 60′s he would get football tickets all the time. One time he got some Packer tickets, and guess what, he took me to the “Ice Bowl”, I’ve been a dye hard Packer Fan ever since. I’ve got a Niece who lives with her family in Pittsville Wi, and My Nephew and his family live near Stevens Point Wi ….. So , I love German food and Cheese Curds and Leinenkugel beer (Ya, belive it or not, we get that down here, I’m a “Leinie’s Lodge member) I’m doing your “Brat Tub” this Momorial Weekend, I’m sure it will be a big hit with my friends .
