Ingredients:
35-40 caramels
5 T. milk
3/4 cup butter melted
1 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup quick oatmeal
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
3/4 cup chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
Melt caramels with milk in a double boiler (I actually do these in the microwave and it goes faster and is easier to clean up…melt 1 minute, stir, then melt at 30 second intervals stirring between to check consistency); cool (I don’t really cool it…just melt it durning the first half of baking). Combine all other ingredients except carmels, chocolate chips and nuts. Set aside 1/2 cup of mixture. Press remainder into a 9×13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Spread caramel over crust and sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts on tops. Sprinkle on remaining crumbs and bake 10-12 minutes until brown.
Notes:
These are always a HIT for food days at work and it’s one of my most requested recipes. It’s super simple and super yummy!!
