Trip to NYC!
Did you ever get back from a trip and think to yourself, “Did that just really happen?” I’m still pinching myself. My daughter, Ireland and I hit the vacation jackpot and no we weren’t in Vegas playing the slots. Ireland goes to a performing arts camp in New York. We flew out 5 days early to see the sights. It was an AMAZING trip!
We had planned to see just one, but we ended up seeing 3 Broadway shows! On our first night we were eating pizza and the craziest thing happened. We sat right next to a Tony nominated producer for the show An American in Paris. We started chatting and the next thing you know she kindly offered to get us tickets to her show. Let me tell you I tried. These are not easy to come by. It was the one show we really wanted to see! We pinched ourselves when we walked into the theater and discovered our seats where right up front. The show was INCREDIBLE! And, the dancing! We were completely WOWED! I wasn’t surprised the show won a Tony for best choreography!
And, speaking of dancing, another highlight of the trip was seeing the American Ballet Theater at the gorgeous Lincoln Center.
And get this, right in front of us in line picking up her tickets was ballerina and the Tony nominated star of An American in Paris, Leanne Cope.
She was as cute as a button and couldn’t have been nicer as we said hello and complimented her on her amazing performance. And, the night got even better. During the first intermission we realized famous Russian-American ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov was seated just a few rows in front of us.
For Ireland, who loves ballet and has been dancing, since she was a little girl, this was a dream come true!
We also were able to see the Broadway musicals Gigi, and a Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. All the shows were just fantastic!
This trip was also filled with delicious food! We had authentic Italian pizza in Little Italy.
We had Dim Sum in China town.
We even managed to figure out the New York subway system which really is the best way to get around.

In the 70’s my daughter,niece Michelle went to NYC in early December.packed two shows,Cats and Buddy Holly ,shopping,Ellis Island,Rockefeller,Empire state building,Hard Rock and ate our way thru NYC.trip of a lifetime!
Your pictures bring back so many memories. The subway system is the greatest way to get around New York and if you buy the weekly pass it is a true bargin. When we get ready to head home we give the remaining subway pass to the doorman at the hotel for someone else to use. This past October we went to the 911 Memorial and it brought back so many memories. It was amazing to see. We also took the subway to the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge and truly enjoyed walking back into the city via the bridge. This was done at twilight and we enjoyed seeing the city light up as we approached. It is a very busy pedestrian and bike bridge. Of course a visit to NYC should include a trip to Central Park with a horse carriage ride. Their are so many great restaurants but if you enjoy music Ellen’s Stardust Diner is a must. Good food and great atmosphere at a reasonable price. Look them up online. The Statue of Liberty is always my favorite place to go and a visit to the top of the Empire State Building during the day and at night is an amazing view of the city. I wouldn’t want to live there because of how busy, crowded and noisy it is but I never tire of visiting NYC.
