Time to ShineThey’ve been practicing for months, and now it’s competition time! My daughter, Ireland (far right) has been dancing for years now. In fact, I think she danced even before she walked! Tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical. You name it, she does it! And she LOVES it! A few years ago she decided to take things to the next level and join a travelling dance troupe. Let’s just say for me it’s been a real education. I play tennis. That’s my game. I don’t know the first thing about dance! But, I’m learning! Thank goodness for the other “Dance Moms” who have lent many a helping hand to this “fish out of water!”

It’s competition season. One down, last weekend in the Chicago area, and 3 to go. Wait! I guess 4 to go if her team makes Nationals, which they did last year. They are off to a great start! If I’m counting right, Ireland is doing 6 different team dances and one solo. It’s her first time ever doing a solo. But, that’s a whole other blog, so check back for more soon about that.

Anyway, her team from Barb’s Center for Dance in Green Bay did really well last weekend! Ireland’s team, “Thrive”, who she’s pictured with here, took top honors, winning best dance of the whole weekend! They even won a dance scholarship! Very cool! Just to see these kids do their thing on stage is pretty neat! It takes a lot of hard work to get to this point! And, for us moms and dad, a lot of driving to dance class too! So, here we go, back to the Chicago area again this weekend for the 2nd big competition of the season. I’ll be the one asking for hairspray, bobby pins, and help getting her bun just right! Fingers crossed for another great weekend! And, if you’re a dance mom, I’d love to hear from you! I’ll take all the help I can get! LOL!

Wow………..I LOVED reading about your dance activity. Will love hearing about level 2, 3, and even 4 – if it goes that far – and if not the experience from the levels you achieved, you can tuck away for future use.
