One Unforgettable Birthday Dinner!

One Unforgettable Birthday Dinner!

One Unforgettable Birthday DinnerOkay, I admit it! Another birthday! Ugh! I wasn’t really expecting much. When you’re my age and your birthday falls on a Monday, well, you know. Guess what? Sometimes when you least expect it and just let it happen, it does!

The morning of my birthday started out interesting. My hubby Bob had promised a family dinner out that night. He had to leave really early for work. I barely remember him telling me happy birthday this morning and kissing me goodbye. Oh, well… dinner, we’ve got dinner to look forward to. It’s cool I thought. Then, I got into my car and waiting there for me was one single rose placed in a water bottle and a card on my seat. Very sweet! The card was beautiful, the rose, a little wilted but, no big deal. Okay, so I’m pretty sure he made an early morning run to the gas station to do my birthday shopping. Hey, it’s the thought that counts, right? Then I got a text from him. “Happy Birthday! Just realized I’ve got night court tonight. Rain check on dinner? I love you!”

Birthday FlowersOh well, there goes my dinner! Bob’s a lawyer. Sometimes they have night court. What are you going to do? I get it! We’re both busy. I’ll take a rain check. Off to work I go.

Work was great, got some lovely cards and gifts from my co-workers. I especially loved the big bag of life-savers from my old friend, Greg! I really needed those today! LOL! When I got home. Ding-dong. My best friend, Susan, sent me the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers! Don’t you think these are amazing! What would we do without girlfriends? I got birthday calls from my parents and my sister and lots of kind wishes from my Facebook friends too. Thanks so much! This birthday is starting to be pretty good after all!

And, then it got even better! My son Riley called me after school. He said he and my daughter Ireland wanted to take me to dinner tonight. Just the three of us. How could I pass that up? Are you kidding me? We went to one to one of my favorite restaurants, called Hotel Seymour. It’s a great steak place that we used to go when the kids were little. The food was delicious! The company even better! Guess what? Bob showed up to surprise me before heading off to court. What fun! It was certainly one birthday dinner I’ll never forget! Plus, I get a rain check for another! Not too bad! Do you have a birthday dinner or memory you’ll never forget? If so, please share!

Look at all the wonderful people in your life taking the time to remember you on your birthday….. your kids are so wonderful to have planned a dinner with you! THAT says alot about the wonderful mother you are to them!!!! You have an extraordinary life Amy! I have never heard about the hotel you had dinner at. We will have to go their next trip to green bay. Take care!

My 14th birthday, my cousin Suzy who is only 6 days older than me, was going to sleep over and we would do girls things. Before dinner the door bell rings and all my closest girlfriends came over to get me to take me out to the Pizza Hut for a surprise party. One of the mom’s took us in a big station wagon and dropped us off to have fun, then came and got us when it was over. We felt so grown up, silly fun gifts, lots of laughs and our friendships have lastest for another 40 years- so far!

1989, I had been joking about wanting diamond earrings for years, my significant other of 8 years had several gifts for me, the last was a small package. In my head I was thinking, oh, my goodness, he actually got me diamond earrings after all these years. When I opened the box, there was a ring in it. I was confused, had they given him the wrong box? These are not earrings. Then, he asked me to marry him. I guess he had the right one after all. :)
