Loving LeviWe got some tough news recently.  Levi, our 100 pound chocolate lab, may not be with us much longer. The vet says he has a tumor about the size of a soft ball.  Wow! That was tough to hear. The good news is he’s not in pain.  It was a tough decision  but, because he’s 13 years-old we decided as a family that we aren’t going to put him through surgery.   Instead, we’re going to enjoy every minute with him!  We’ll let him tell us when it’s time to say goodbye.

Loving Levi this SummerSo far, so good! He he still enjoys short walks.  Actually, think I enjoy them even more than he does.  Every walk I think, will this be the last one? As you can see, he still loves his belly rubs! After a tough day, hugging Levi makes everything all better!  Life without Levi would just be so weird.  I can’t even imagine.  As I write this, he’s at my feet, with his tail wagging.   Sure hope he’ll be here for a little while more!

  1. Enjoy your time together, I hope there are many more walks to come. My Goldendoodle, Bella is only 5 but I know what it’s like to lose a treasured pet. Glad you’re letting him tell you when it’s time.

  2. Amy..very sorry to hear about Levi..i have a tears in my eyes as i write this. We have an almost 12 year old named Gus and i am dreading the day something happens to him. My husband and i never had children so Gus basically is our child and truly gives unconditional love. Keep giving Levi those belly rubs and anything else that makes him and your family happy because those are the times that you will remember. Special Prayers to you and your family during this difficult time.

So Sorry Amy and family, we have had many animals over the last 25 yrs and it is always a hard decision to decide what to do for a sick animal. Age is always a big factor. Just love him and he will be fine.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
