Just One of Those Days!

We’ve all had them. Those days that just could have gone better. Way better! So, I went to Milwaukee to appear on Wake Up Fox 6. I took Ireland along. We had a nice dinner Thursday night and went to bed early. One problem. Didn’t get any sleep! We’re talking none. The guy in the hotel room next door was watching the NBA draft. I felt like I was watching it too. Finally got some sleep at 4am. Then comes the wake-up call at 5am. No problem! I can do this! Shower and getting ready. Oh, no! Forgot my flat-iron. Call, the front desk. No, they don’t have a flat-iron. Okay, I’ll make do with my blow dryer. Grab a coffee and I’m off. Feeling good! First segment comes great! I made my families favorite fruit dip (click here for recipe). Perfect! I had an hour to prep for the next segment. No problem. All is good until…Oh no! Click the image below to watch:

Well, we all got a good laugh after. It’s easy to laugh now. I’m just waiting for this to clip to get on YouTube for the whole world to see. By the way my 3rd segment on the 11am show went off perfectly too. I made ice cream sandwiches for the 4th of July. They were really cute. (Click here for recipe).

Guess 2 out of 3 isn’t bad? Riding the elevator up to my hotel room after a long day a guy says,“You must have a baby.” He points to a huge, we’re talking giant brown blob on my shirt. I look down. Nope, no baby. Just chocolate pudding on my shirt from those ice cream sandwiches. Just got to move on and laugh! Life is too short to sweat the small stuff, right? Have you ever had one of those days? The day got better. Stay tuned for what happened next.

    Hi Amy,
I found for your video on Fox6 website, after a friend told me about the broken pyrex dishes! You did great–just kept cooking and talking like nothing happened! Good for you!

I do regular cooking segments on Fox6 also. And that could have happened to me, as I noticed that the back left burner gets hot when it’s NOT on! There must be a “short” in the wiring–(I did mentioned it to the station crew at that time).

If you’d like to see my blog–www.recipesforafull-filledlife.blogspot.com Recently, I did a segment for July 4 and Father’s Day, and Valentine’s Day, which are posted on my blog.

    Happy Cooking, Fellow Foodie!

Thanks Diane! Good to know about that burner! I didn’t think I had it on!

Amy- I had to laugh (sorry it was at your expense). When I was newly married, I followed a recipe that said to melt butter in a baking dish – which I did stovetop. I did not realize that pyrex (which withstands oven heat) does not withstand DIRECT heat of the stove – it’s not stove safe, unlike CORNING WARE. I was talking on the phone to my sister and all of a sudden the pyrex dish exploded. All was well, and now, as a very seasoned cook, I make sure to remind new cooks to only use Pyrex in the oven. Happy Cooking!

Too Funny Brenda. Actually the little bowls filled with peppers and onions were just sitting on top of the stovetop as I was making the kabobs. I must have by accident turned the burner on underndeath them. I wasn’t used to that cooktop. Anyway, good lesson! I’ll never do that again.
