Graduation Day!

Graduation Day!

Riley's High School Graduation“How did it get so late so soon?” I wish I could say I came up with that. It’s a quote from Dr. Suess. I remember when they handed him to me in the hospital 18 years ago. My first born. It was one of the best days of my life! This weekend was even better! My son, Riley, graduated from high school! Yes! He did it!

Riley's High School Graduation 2Actually, we did it! These days it takes a village to raise a good kid! Don’t you agree? From his teachers at Notre Dame Academy, to his cross country and track coaches, his grandparents, not to mention great friends and mentors. His sister too! She gives her big brother lots of love and hugs and even makes him breakfast most mornings. We all watered this plant. It’s been so cool to watch him grow! Riley graduated with honors and will be going to St. Norbert College next year. He loves learning, especially English and History. He wants to be teacher some day.

Riley's High School Graduation 3I am so proud of you, son! I know this is only the beginning. You will go on to do great things! Teach others as they have taught you! As to how many tissues I went through. Actually, just a few. All tears of joy. It wasn’t as bad as I thought! I still have him at home this summer. Can’t even think about moving him into his college dorm come August. Yikes! Have you been through this? It feels so weird? Any advice moms?
