Countdown to College!

Countdown to College!

Countdown to College!I’m starting to freak out! My son Riley is going off to college in less than 2 weeks. YIKES! This week we’re all hanging out at the cottage together up in Michigan. I’m savoring every second of it. Everything is going to change, and soon! Riley and Levi, our dog, are so tight! Levi’s going to miss all those long walks and belly rubs! Then, there’s Ireland. I think it’s going to be really weird for her! No brother to fight with. The house sure will be quieter! LOL! For now, I’m trying not to think about it too much.

We’re doing some back to school shopping and I’m just enjoying the week with him. Family dinners seem extra special this week! There will be one less at the table soon! Oops, there I go again! Stop that! I’m so excited for him! Gotta let these kids to spread their wings and fly, right? Any advice to get me through this? I can’t imagine what move-in day will be like! DOUBLE YIKES!

Feel blessed you have one off to college-we had one too, a few years ago, then she left college to get married and off to the south she went! Then my oldest dropped out of college after getting sick and now is unable to be in college because of side-effects of meds, all my hopes went away as well, but Next year our youngest will be going, high honors, heathy, athlete, leader in his class, I cannot wait to watch him GO! Enjoy it all! Goes way too fast!

Amy, change is always difficult, Riley is just a call or text away.

Well, as far as Riley goes, it will be harder for you than is was for me back in the 80′s and 90′s.
We had no direct phone(remember long distance rates?), no email, certainly no Skype! So you’ll just have to use your will power!! Let Riley make the calls, and let him know you will let him do so. He knows you love him and care about EVERYTHING he does, but he needs to set his own path.
Also, don’t forget to be sensitive to Ireland’s changing needs. It’s hard enough to be her age without this life=changing event!
I’m sure you will all be fine. You seem to be a fantastic parent!!!
    God bless,
