A Cherry Good Time…

Lautenbachs Orchard Country

I’ve picked apples and pumpkins but this was a first. We went cherry picking, big time! What fun! If you’ve never done this before you need to! It was my daughter Ireland’s first time and she picked 10 pounds of cherries in no time flat. In fact the Lautenbach family, who have owned the Door County orchard for decades told me, if she wants a job some summer, she’s hired! Have you ever been to this orchard and winery? It’s wonderful! After all that picking, (and eating) it’s time to head inside the farm market store to cool off and go shopping. From dried cherries, chocolate covered cherries, cherry juice, cherry salsa, and you MUST try a cherry turnover! To die for! With 10 pounds of cherries to take home and a cherry pitter too, we left there a little “Cherried Out”! Great memories and can’t wait to do it again next year! So, now I need your help! Got any good cherry recipes? Please share them! Even though I gave away half of our stash, I still have 5 pounds of cherries in the fridge. Stay tuned to see who did the best at the Cherry Pit Spit!
